Northern Lights

Mood/tone concept painting for a hypothetical game project based on Julie and the Wolves.

I explored a few moments from the Julie and the Wolves book; cubs playing at the den...

... the pack on the hunt...

... the pack observing Julie from a distance...

... and the pack howling together under the northern lights. The chance to paint a snowy night scene wound up clinching my decision and I moved forward with this thumbnail concept.

First painting pass. I wasn't happy with the hard-brush look of the borealis and the moonlight was getting completely lost.
